Turn your tablet or phone into a Holographic Projector
Make a plastic pyramid using an isosceles trapezoid shape and you can convert a smartphone or tablet into a "holographic" projector. The plastic reflects an image off of a surface to create an illusion of a 3D object floating in physical space. Turn up the screen brightness setting on your tablet and give it a go!

The Plastic
Clear plastic panels are the key to creating your projector. The clearer the better.Thin plastics like Binding or clear laminating sheets are fine for young students to make phone and tablet projectors but you may need a more substantial plastic .8 mm poly-carbonate from Bunnings if you want more durable projectors.

U
se Binding Clear Covers 200 micron or 250 micron from Officeworks. Use sellotape to put the sides together. Try the template below.

The Pens
Use fine Artliners to trace around the template. The ink smudges and lines can be cleaned off the plastic with a damp cloth + Spray and Wipe.

My favourite plastic is .8 mm extruded poly carbonate which has many uses in our STEM Lab. Poly carbonate is affordable and  is available at Bunnings in .8 mm sheets and can be cut with scissors.

How to Build
There are quite a few 'how to build' videos on the web but I like these two. The tech DIY wiz and Youtuber Mrwhosetheboss introduces the first video. The second is from a clever Indian guy from Techniblogic who uses thin plastic and a CD jewel case.

The Videos
This is a list of four face Youtube Hologram Videos. Devices can be placed on a table with screen up or placed on top of the pyramid base with the screen facing down. Investigate the two projections.
